Starfest

Potter Jon Williams worked with the children at Stanley Road Primary School making ceramic lanterns hanging from the treesMade it to the arts spectacular ‘Starfest’ at Stanley Rd Primary last Friday. The staff and children really go to town on this annual celebration of all the children’s art work. Remember the sculptural globes Yr3, 4 & 5 made when I visited beginning of June? Well they were all beautifully installed in a giant cherry tree in the school grounds – they looked amazing! There were lots of other art works on show and a host of performances on the school playground. The event was well supported by families and the local community with tours of 30-40 people setting off around the sculpture trail every 10-15 mins.

Star lights

Pottery sculpture made by children at Stanley Rd Primary School with artist Jon Williams from Eastnor PotteryPrivileged to have spent four days at the incredibly creative Stanley Road Primary School in Worcester. I got to work with the same class for the whole day enabling them to create some amazing ceramic lanterns for their Star Festival on the 28th June.

Light and colour provided the inspiration and the children worked in groups of three in a collaborative fashion. Each group made one sculptural piece between them so there was a lot of creative debate, exchanging ideas and negotiating  on design.

Here’s just one of thirty photographed on the Pottery lawn. I cant wait to see them all installed and lit up.
