Made it to the arts spectacular ‘Starfest’ at Stanley Rd Primary last Friday. The staff and children really go to town on this annual celebration of all the children’s art work. Remember the sculptural globes Yr3, 4 & 5 made when I visited beginning of June? Well they were all beautifully installed in a giant cherry tree in the school grounds – they looked amazing! There were lots of other art works on show and a host of performances on the school playground. The event was well supported by families and the local community with tours of 30-40 people setting off around the sculpture trail every 10-15 mins.

Terracotta owls
Very pleased with these collaborative owls constructed with the children at Church Lench First School in Worcestershire. Reminds me of that fab book ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell we used to read to the kids when they were younger.
Pottery plant tags
As well as offering a range of exciting ‘off the peg’ drop in projects, we regularly get requests from our customers to make bespoke objects. The Pring family called by on a mission to create jugs, toast racks and these rather effective gardening tags. Good work team!
Star lights
Privileged to have spent four days at the incredibly creative Stanley Road Primary School in Worcester. I got to work with the same class for the whole day enabling them to create some amazing ceramic lanterns for their Star Festival on the 28th June.
Light and colour provided the inspiration and the children worked in groups of three in a collaborative fashion. Each group made one sculptural piece between them so there was a lot of creative debate, exchanging ideas and negotiating on design.
Here’s just one of thirty photographed on the Pottery lawn. I cant wait to see them all installed and lit up.
