Shop window no more :(

no more fabulous eastnor pottery displays in Ledbury dry cleanersFor the past 15 years we’ve been fortunate to display our wares in the shop window of Priory Cleaners in Ledbury High Street. A prime spot for sure with locals and visitors enjoying the fruits of our pottery workshops and school projects in the centre of town.

Sadly, the dry cleaning firm has moved to new premises in the town without the expansive glass shop front . So it was with a heavy heart that we cleared our stuff and retreated to the Pottery showroom here in Eastnor.

We would like to thank the management at Priory Cleaners for the opportunity to exhibit for all these years and for Caroline for her curatorial expertise and stuardship.

We wish them all the success in their new shop.

TV pot stars!

Eastnor Pottery on Channel Four TV Four in a bedWay way back in July 2014, we were filmed as part of the Channel 4 series Four in a Bed. If you have never watched the show, x4 B+B owners get to stay in each other’s establishments before grading them at the end of the week. There’s always an ‘activity’ for the contestants to sample and the production company contacted us to see if we’d be willing to participate. Here’s a link direct to our episode, it wont be up there forever. Enjoy! (we certainly did in the making, although most of the funny stuff ended up on the cutting room floor)

Eastnor drain covers

Terracotta drain covers for Eastnor Castle made on the potters wheelWe like a challenge here at Eastnor Pottery.

Phil, one of the Estate workers asked if we could replace a broken pottery drain cover for one of the sewers in the Castle grounds. Those of you in the know will appreciate that clay does an awfull lot of shrinking, not only as it drys, but as it’s fired in the kiln as well. It’s not uncommon for certain types of clay to undergo a 20% reduction in size from soft squidgy stuff to fired ceramic.

In order to get a good fit, Ethan made several lids on the potter’s wheel with varying diameters and thicknesses. We are hoping that at least one will do the job – we’ll let you know the outcome…dont go away now!
