The Flying Potter out & about

festival goers enjoy making pots on the potter's wheel at music festivalsFor those of you familiar with our work will know we have a busy summer of workshops and pottery sessions ahead of us. We will be sharing the many benefits of working with clay, not only from our idyllic Herefordshire studio, but out in the community at festivals and events.

We love getting out there and enjoy the challenge of working with large numbers of participants in fields, community halls and public spaces.

Here’s a list of public events we’ll be present at in the coming months. We hope to meet some of you on the campaign trail Summer 2017!

Clay hens in the Potting Tent

group of girls celebrate hen party by making pottery at eastnor pottery in herefordshireThe delightful Spring sunshine was matched by an equally delightful hen party group who visited the Pottery a little while ago. 17 girls and a fella made some beautifully designed and painted coil pots as well as taking a turn on the potter’s wheel.

After the clay had been cleaned away and the tables sponged down, the girls picnicked into the afternoon, proclaiming the day a blooming success.

Here’s what the had to say about their pottery hen party experience:

“What a wonderful place this is! We went for my friends hen party with 17 ladies (and a man!). Jon made the whole afternoon fun and entertaining. We did coil pots and a taster on the wheel each which was spot on for what we wanted.

It’s the above and beyond elements that make this place so special. Nothing was too much trouble and we ran over time and were still allowed to use the beautiful marquee for our picnic afterwards. Tea and coffee was also provided for the afternoon.

Can not rate this place highly enough :) thanks everyone! ” Tess

All in the planning!

surprise birthday treat for couple to make pottery on the potterywheelHusband and ‘keeper of secrets’ Geoff, arranged for himself and wife Julie to spend the day making pots on the potter’s wheel as a birthday surprise. Julie had always harboured a desire to try the potter’s wheel and we were delighted when Geoff approached us to help fulfil her ambition.

He did such an excellent job of concealing the activity from Julie, even when they were yards from the Pottery she still had no idea of what they were going to be doing for the day.

The pair thoroughly enjoyed their experience and we’re sure we’ll be seeing both of them again in the not too distant future.

It’s a family affair

Pottery activity for group of grown-ups at Eastnor Pottery & The Flying PotterWe’ve entertained some lovely family adult groups of late. Karen and her grown-up children spent the whole day making pots on the kick wheels and hand- building coil pots whilst Hazel marked her 70th Birthday with a 1.5 hr shared potter’s wheel extravaganza in the Potting Tent marquee.

Pirates!

Pirate pottery fun for children in half term at Eastnor PotteryChildren’s workshops in the ½ term Holiday
Pirates!
31st May 2017

We are delighted to announce details of our fun, creative and pirate themed children’s workshop sessions planned for the rapidly approaching ½ term holiday.

Youngsters will take a spin on the potter’s wheel to make a pirate galleon filled with rogues and treasure.

Captain Long Jon Potter and his crew of ceramic sea-dogs will be on hand to aid the seafaring creativity:

Those young landlubbers and scallywags who visited the Pottery back in 2006 might recall our ‘Pirates & princesses’ children’s workshops. We reckon everybody loves a bit’ a pirate and the sessions were fit to bursting. Eleven years on, we thought it was high ‘tide’ we hoisted the jolly roger and readied the rowlocks for another voyage of pottery pilfery. We set sail on the 31st . Arrr me hearties!

The children’s terracotta creations will be fired and ready for collection from the Pottery approx. one month later.

Sessions are designed for two age groups although younger and older siblings will never be turned away: 11.30am-1pm 4-8YRS and 2-3.30pm 9-12YRS. Places cost £15 per child with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Telephone or email booking essential. 01531 633886 admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk
