Eastnor Pottery and The Flying Potter - Pottery Experiences for families, groups and individuals

Creative practitioners who work in other media are often inquisitive and keen to try new materials. So, as one might expect, we do get to encounter more than our fair share of artists and craftspeople wanting to translate their ideas into clay.
We love working with fellow creatives and are delighted when we get the opportunity to do so.
Check out this amazing collaborative pot made by illustrator Sarah Dean and her family to commemorate her 40th birthday.
Although the pot looked pretty amazing in terracotta, Sarah had other ideas about the finish! I’m sure you’ll agree the acrylic paint job looks magnificent and elevates the artwork to a new level.
Well done Sarah!
Photographic documentation is a key part of our practice here at Eastnor Pottery, particularly the Early Years and educational work we undertake.
Often a project will have a professional photographer assigned to record the clay creativity. Jon the potter has had the good fortune to work with some of the best photographers in the West Midlands and as a result has been influenced by their technique and approach.
The accumulated knowledge and experience paid off recently when Jon was compelled to enter one of his images in a competition organised by Hereford & Worcester Chamber of commerce. ‘Nail Art’ (above) won 2nd prize!
The brief was a simple one – submit in an image taken in the past 12 months at a Chamber event. ‘Nail Art’ was snapped by Jon at the Business Expo 2017 on the Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter stand where Jon and Ethan were encouraging delegates to try the potter’s wheel.
Eight clay novices took to the potter’s wheels on the 1st of April 2017…and not an April fool among them!
The individuals from all over the country were participating in our ‘Potter’s Wheel Weekend Workshop‘ experience and all of them produced a unique, professional body of work.
The group gelled extremely well and the warm Spring sunshine meant the participants could chill and enjoy their lunch on the Pottery lawn.
A perfect, weekend creative break with participants leaving on Sunday afternoon feeling relaxed and expressing a desire to further expand their pottery skills.
The next available weekend with places up for grabs takes place 10 & 11th June 2017. Tel 01531 633886 or email admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk to reserve a place.

We had great fun working with delegates and companies at the Business expo 2017 organised by The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce at The Three Counties Showground in Malvern.
Visitors and exhibitors didn’t need to be asked twice if they’d like to have a go on the wheel and at certain times, participants were queuing up to tackle the clay.
The juxtaposition of a muddy potter’s wheel in amongst the suits, glamour and business paraphernalia makes for a super photograph – as you can see, we took quite a few….
