Made in Eastnor

Once again, we provided the clay and fired all 1700 medals for this years Mudrunner event here on the Eastnor Castle Estate.

The event has been going from strength to strength with record numbers hauling themselves around the grueling (and very muddy) landrover experience test track.

This year 200 younger mud runners were able to take part in a Junior event.

Washwood Heath Nursery School

pottery sessions for parents at washwood heath nursery school led by jon the potter from eastnor potteryI’ve been lucky enough to work with the staff, parents and children at Washwood Heath Nursery School again.

Each year the Nursery allows new parents to participate in a range of craft activities whilst their young children settle into the classrooms. This way the mums & dads have something to take their mind off the transition whilst being on hand if their child becomes too upset.

This is the second year ‘ve been involved in this simple yet very effective activity. It works a treat with parents commenting on the benefits to well being at what can be a trying time.

The quality of creative response from the parents was once again exceptional and participants produced some beautiful and decorative results. Some had the opportunity to try their hand at the potter’s wheel, describing their experience as a ‘dream come true’!

After 1/2 term I’ll be in the classroom working with the children, identifying their interests and joining in their journey.

Roman army marches on Bishops Cleeve

pottery workshops at bishops cleeve primary schoolClose on sixty Yr 3 pupils from Bishops Cleeve Primary School collaborated to make an army of terracotta Roman soldiers. The children worked in threes to produce the 20 clay figures – one made the head, one made the torso and the other constructed the legs.

The body parts were then joined together, each figure standing roughly 25cms in height.

The results look fabulous and will be further enhanced by a terracotta firing in our kilns. Once emerged from the firing process the figures will be returned to the school to be displayed in the School entrance on specially constructed shelves….To see the completed, fired Roman legion of soldiers, have a look at our Facebook album.pottery workshops at bishops cleeve primary school
