A poem a day

Young potter proud of his painted creation

We received a lovely book this Christmas – ‘A poem for every day’ edited by Allie Esiri.

365 poems, ancient, traditional and contemporary prose designed to start the day on a contemplative and inspiring note. Sarah and myself are pleased to report we have managed to ‘keep up’ and the readings have become an important part of our morning tea drinking ritual.

This poem by Jan Dean is particularly poignant for those wishing to work with clay! More literally for customers who struggle with the concept of painting their freshly thrown pot:

What our customers do when they’re not making pottery….

Meet Nicola :) who visited the Pottery back in the Autumn to experience our ‘Introduction to the potter’s wheel’ with her mum. As well as being an exceptional potter, she also does this:

We wish Nicola all the best with her endeavours on and off the potter’s wheel!

Pinch Pot Pig!

19 – 23 February 2019

We are delighted to announce details of our fun and creative themed sessions for families in the approaching February half term.

Pinch Pot Pig is the theme in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Participants will use proper clay to make and paint a little piggie to be left with us to be fired and glazed.

We’ve shaken things up in terms of what we offer our lovely customers. Traditionally our children’s sessions have taken place on the Wednesday of every school holiday and if families couldn’t make that date then they would miss out on all the clay fuelled fun – but not so anymore! – visitors can book Tuesday to Saturday and the best bit.… grown-ups can participate too!

The workshops are designed for children as young as 4 years and there is no upper age limit.

1.5 hr sessions commence at 10am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm and places cost £20. Telephone and email booking essential: Tel: 01531 633886 e: admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

Diamond couple!

parents and son try their hand at making pottery togetherWe really enjoyed working with Ian and his parents who were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary by taking a spin on the potter’s wheel.

The trio’s positive outlook and good humour made for a brilliant, creative shared experience and a workshop session we’ll look back on with fondness.

If you’ve got something amazing to celebrate, then why not mark the occasion by making a piece of pottery. We have options for large groups and smaller gatherings and plenty of inspirational makes, including collaborative pieces where everybody contributes to a single thrown pot.

Clay for couples

The end of the school summer holidays heralds a new group of visitors to the Shire!

Couples and groups of adults descend on the county to enjoy the beautiful Autumnal scenery, the bustling market towns and idyllic villages.

Most of them book an activity of some description to punctuate their visit, and, it appears pottery is high on their list of adventures!

If you are planning a rural, creative break in Herefordshire then please check out our dedicated website page for couples and small groups.
