A rainy day in Wigmore…

Primary school children at Wigmore made this collaborative butterfly with visiting artist Jon Williams…did little to dampen the fun and creativity when I worked with the children and staff at Wigmore Primary School in Herefordshire.

I had been invited to undertake some claywork with the whole school as part of thier annual Science week. We decided to make a collaborative ‘life cycle’ sculpture. Yr R made a chrysalis, Yr 1 & 2 a caterpillar and the older children in the school made a magnificent butterfly.

Once the art work has been fired it will go on display around the school pond area.

Exterminate!

Dr Who provided the inspiration for 1/2 term pottery fun at Eastnor Pottery in HerefordshireDr Who is nearly 50 and to mark this televisual milestone we hosted a couple of days of Dalek inspired children’s workshops in 1/2 term. Although, a fair proportion of our participants were too young to have watched the scary programme, they made some excellent ‘snowman’ and ‘princess’ Daleks. Lots of photos of the clay fun can be accessed right here.

Larry’s mugs

Potting pair Liz & Russ make pots from clay to celebrate a 27th BirthdayThis pair had always wanted to make a pot on the potter’s wheel. With Russells 27th birthday fast approaching, Liz got in touch and booked a pottery session for fulfill their potter’s wheel ambition.

The guys have a pet chameleon called Larry and both enjoyed using the reptile as a source of inspiration when it came to decorating their thrown pots. The couple spent a good hour and a half adding and painting detail, the results of which look pretty amazing.

We made a little photo album documenting their visit.
