Blue is the colour

box of delights pottery lessons for children at eastnor pottery in the school holidaysLewis, one of our youngest regulars at our children’s pottery sessions has a thing for the colour blue. (Who can forget ‘blue’ santa from this time last year – man, he was swimming in the stuff!)

It was great to see him in the Pottery again on our ‘Box of Delights’ children’s workshop sessions this week. Having constucted a lidded pot using the slab technique it was time to paint his masterpiece…I guess there was always only going to be one effect Lewis had in mind! Loving the sticky out tongue – evidence of proper concentration.

Our next children’s pottery workshop sessions take place in 1/2 term 20 & 21 Feb and include a go on the potter’s wheel. Please contact the Pottery to reserve your place admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk or tel 01531 633886. More details can be found here.

Team event at Hillier Gardens

the flying potter worked with the outdoor team at hillier gardens romseyJust a few days before the Christmas holidays proper got under way, Gemma and myself headed on down to Hillier Gardens in Hampshire to work with this lovely lot!

West Midlands based events company Eventurous brought us all together, the clients having a team meeting in the morning followed by lunch and an afternoon of potter’s wheel fun and collaborative clay work.

Hidden creative talents were revealed as the employees produced x4 desktop totems, rich with organisation symbolism and aspiration.

Once the totems have been fired and glazed they will be couriered to HQ to serve as a permanent reminder of what can be achieved through collaborative working.

Please follow this link to see some of the snapshots we took on the day.

Pottery for two!

two lovely visitors who took advantage of our drop-in potter's wheel taster sessions here at eastnor potteryHerefordshire has always been a popular destination for short winter breaks. Country walks and and cosy b+bs are an irresistible draw for visitors.

At this time of year we  encounter a fair proportion of couples looking for that extra special activity to enhance their vacation.

These two telephoned early in the morning having discovered our website. Once the all important appointment had been made, (pre-booking essential!) a few hours later the pair were settled in the studio, sampling the delights of the potter’s wheel.

If you fancy a go at making some pottery over the festive holiday please drop us an email  admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk or telephone 01531 633886.

Pottery making on the wheel

one of the pottery course participants makes a thrown pot on the potter's wheel at eastnor pottery & the flying potter in herefordshireWe very rarely cancel our potter’s wheel workshops here at Eastnor Pottery, even if we only have one participant booked we’ll endeavour to run the session.

This proved to be the case on Sunday as Sarah had my undivided attention for the whole day. The one 2 one tuition paid off with immediate effect as she made giant strides through the 5 easy steps to making a pot on the potter’s wheel.

When husband Dave & kids turned up to collect, they were confronted with a board full of articulate pots, plates and bowls – all different shapes and sizes.

Nice pots Gillian

these professional looking pots were made by a participant on our weekend potter's wheel workshopsOur most loyal and competent workshop participant is Gillian. She’s been attending our monthly potter’s wheel sessions for more years than I can remember and as you can see from these beauties, has reached a high level of skill in her making. This assortment of plates, pots and lidded jars will be winging their way to members of her family as Christmas presents. Good work Gillian and we look forward to welcoming you back to Eastnor Pottery in the New Year.
