Eastnor Pottery and The Flying Potter - Pottery Experiences for families, groups and individuals
During the week we have an ever increasing number of adult pottery ‘double acts’ through the door. Husbands and wives, mothers and daughters and good friends, all keen to sample the delights of the potter’s wheel.
Rebecca (featured on the wheel) purchased a ‘throw a pot’ experience for her Mum as a birthday surprise.

I worked with approx. 80 youngsters in one evening last week. Two groups in two hours made up of Rainbows, Beavers, Cubs & Brownies.
The clay fun occured in Crowle Village Hall in Worcestershire and the children made a wonderfull array of pinch-pot creations.

Once again, a lovely mix of aspiring potter’s descended on Eastnor Pottery for a weekend of making pots on the wheel.
Saturday is always a very wet and messy affair with participants learning how to manipulate the soft clay on the wheel.
Sunday is a much ‘cleaner’ process where the pots made on day one have dried enough to be turned and decorated. The finished, fired and glazed masterpieces are delivered to your door approx. one month later…and for November’s gang, just in time for Christmas presents!

Amazingly he’s been here a month already so it’s high time we say a very warm ‘WELCOME!’ to Ethan, our newest member of the Eastnor Pottery team. Ethan will be spending the next 12 months as a Community Artist Apprentice, accompanying us on our all our sessions out & about as well as assisting with our recreational pottery sessions here at the studio.
We’ve packed so much already into the past 4 weeks with arts projects in Ledbury, Hereford and Wolverhampton to name but three. As well as helping out at these workshops Ethan has been busy taking documentary notes & photos as well as learning about the day to day running of a small creative enterprise. He’s also gained a wealth of pottery skills which in time, he’ll share with our customers and participants. Oh yes, he’s proved himself a bit of a whizz on the potter’s wheel too.
Ethan came to us via Creative Alliance who will be monitoring his progress and setting him the appropriate assignments in order for him to gain his level 3 Community Artist qualification. The position is part funded by the Creative and Cultural Skills agency.
Great to be back at Ledbury Primary School working with the Nursery.
Over the next 12 weeks or so we’ll be using clay to explore language and communication with the children and their parents…as well as having bucket loads of pottery fun!
This week, by way of an introduction to both me and the material, we created a clay monster from a fresh bag of clay – the children suggesting, making and adding body parts as we went along.
The project proved so succesful last year the School was keen for the new intake of children to experience it. Cant wait to build upon and develope what we learnt last time.
