Potter’s wheel drop-in

drop-in potter's wheel workshop sessions where people make a pot on the potter's wheelSpent a lovely hour or so in the company of Kim and Matt who booked a go on the potter’s wheel as an anniversary treat to themselves. They both produced a unique shape but more importantly, of equal distinction! Once the pots have been fired and glazed they will be winging their way to their creators in the post. More details of our drop-in sessions for adults and families please take a look at our dedicated web page.

Playground tile panel

colours used on a massive pottery tile panel created by jon the potter and children at charford first school in bromsgroveI have been working with YR3 & 4 children at Charford First School in Bromsgrove to create a gigantic tile panel in the shape of an underwater sea scape.

Each child has made and painted with coloured slip, a section of a fish, octopus or starfish. Once all 180 tiles have been fired and glazed the giant jigsaw will be attached to anexpanse of boundary fence surrounding the children’s playground.

As soon as the tiles are out of the kiln we’ll arrange them, photograph and publish pictures here on the Eastnor Pottery website.

Creative Breaks at the Courtyard

jon the potter invited visitors to make a pot on the potters wheel at the creative breaks stand at herefords contemporary craft fair nov 2012Every November Creative Breaks(the association of Herefordshire based makers and artists offering courses and workshops) have a presence at the Hereford Contemporary Craft Fair. The event takes place at The Courtyard Theatre in Hereford and CB get to market their services to a discerning public by demonstrating their creative talents in the Theatre foyer….and hopefully sell a few workshop vouchers as Christmas presents!

A rota is drawn up and members demonstrate their art for a morning or afternoon.

I was there on Sunday morning with my potter’s wheel inviting visitors to sample the delights of making a pot on the wheel. I had a steady stream of takers and the photos can be viewed on our facebook page.
