Much excitement at Tredington Primary School near Tewkesbury. As if a visit from Jon the Potter wasn’t enough, the school chose that day to announce to the pupils and parents it’s ‘outstanding’ OFSTED result from a their recent inspection. Well done guys!

Enviro-tiles
Spent a lovely day with The Littletons First School in Worcestershire making tiles based upon their local environment.
Prior to my visit, each class went outside with sketchpads and pens to record their locality in marks and lines. The excursions took place on some of the most windy and wet days we’ve expereinced so far this Autumn – so the children didn’t get too much further than the playground. In a way, this was quite fortunate as it gave the children the opportunity to properly take in detail that would normally get overlooked. The climbing frames, tyres and painted lines made for great interpretations in clay.
Ikon early years project
Having an inspiring and wonderful time working with the Ikon Gallery and several of Birmingham’s Nursery Schools. Parents, children and staff from Lillian de Lissa, Cheeky Monkeys, David Gretton Nursery Schools and Poppits Playgroup have been working in clay inspired by the paintings of Hurvin Anderson, an international artist originating from Birmingham. Hurvins giant canvases are on show at the Ikon Gallery untill 10th November 2013.
Herefordshire apples
Hundreds of people helped create these scrumptious glazed fruit at the Hereford Celebration event held at King George playing fields in September.
If you’d like to see the sculptures in the flesh so to speak, take a trip to Ledbury High Street and check out the Dry Cleaners window after October 1/2 term. After they’ve been exhibited there, we’ll be handing them over to Brightstripe as an exhibition resource.
Buddha’s of Marlbrook
Great to be back at Marlbrook Primary School in Hereford….and a Jon the Potter first – made 60 or so clay Buddha’s with YR6. Here’s just one of them.
