Eastnor Pottery and The Flying Potter - Pottery Experiences for families, groups and individuals
Check out these amazing pots made by Wendy, a recent participant on our potter’s wheel weekend workshop. Unbelievably she hadn’t made pots on the wheel before her visit to Eastnor.
These little beauties will be bubble wrapped, dispatched and reunited with their creator in the next few days.
The final pot throwing workshop of 2011 presented a lovely mix of experenced and first time participants.
A couple of friends who had met on an evening pottery class in London used the oportunity to fine tune their technique – both ladies making some significant pieces. Their fellow makers, a mother and daughter combo, hadn’t ever been on the potter’s wheel before but soon got to grips with the rudiments.
At the end of the day we encourage particpants to select their favourite pieces for firing. Once the wheat had been separated from the chaf the remaining vessels looked magnificent and testiment to a productive and rewarding session.

Ok, it’s not the first thing that springs to mind when you think ‘Christmas office party’ but the forward thinking folk at ratherinventive joined us at the studio for two hours of potter’s wheel fun.
The festive creativity was enchanced by a couple bottles of bubbly – no wobbly pots here though, as the team took to the potter’s wheel like ducks to water.

The group produced some tidy looking pots which we’ll fire, glaze and make available for collection early in the new year.

A couple of participants from our November ‘potter’s wheel’ weekend workshop.
The pair were incredibly productive and made some wonderful pots on Saturday. The quality of each pot was such they both had difficulty selecting pieces to turn and decorate on Sunday!
Wendy had travelled down from Yorkshire so painted like fury to finish her creations. Far from looking rushed, her pieces had a vitality and spontaneity – all the better for the speedy paint job. Mark’s solution (local lad) – a return trip to paint his masterpieces. His pots will be kept fresh in plastic until his return in December.

We do our fair share of children’s birthday parties here at Eastnor Pottery. However, on saturday we had the pleasure of hosting a ‘grown up’ pottery party for Andy and his guests. Apparently, Andy was celebrating his 60th birthday, although he could have quite easily passed the event off as his 50th (what’s your secret Andy?!) and wanted to treat his guests to a unique experience – something really different.
No less than 19 party goers enjoyed making pots on the potter’s wheel as well as constructing and painting some pretty cool coil pots.
Some of the group were under the impression the three hour workshop was purely a clay experience and the only thing they would be making was a mess! They were genuinely surprised at their creative clay outpourings and thrilled at the prospect of recieving ceramic keep sakes in a few weeks time. Have a look at the results in our Facebook album.
