New use for sound pots

Pottery made by ceramic artist Jon WilliamsPottery vases by Jon Williams at The Verzon Hotel LedburyThe Verzon Hotel near Ledbury purchased a selection of my musical pots to use as centre pieces on the restaurant tables. The Verzon is committed to using local suppliers, whether thats culinary ingredients or pots for the table.

I think the vessels look really effective planted up and the colours really complement the existing decor. Good work guys!

Playground pottery

Working with clay on the school playgroundLove taking the clay outside for the children to explore.

Al fresco pottery offers the opportunity to work with youngsters who might not normally engage with the material in the classroom.

The clay is approached in a much more physical way with lumps being thrown, pressed and transported to the far reaches of the play area.

These clay print gems were produced by the afternoon Nursery children at LPS.

Made a couple of ‘figure-head’ terracotta sculptures with the young artists at LPS Nursery in the last session before the Christmas holidays.

The Nursery children are sometimes split into two groups for communal activities such as story time and snack – Kipper the dog and Elmer the Elephant representing each group.

I’ll be back at the school in January to carry on the clay/language project with the afternoon children and their parents. Looking forward to it!

The language of clay

Nursery school aged children construct a clay man from a bag of clayGreat to be back at Ledbury Primary School working with the Nursery.

Over the next 12 weeks or so we’ll be using clay to explore language and communication with the children and their parents…as well as having bucket loads of pottery fun!

This week, by way of an introduction to both me and the material, we created a clay monster from a fresh bag of clay – the children suggesting, making and adding body parts as we went along.

The project proved so succesful last year the School was keen for the new intake of children to experience it. Cant wait to build upon and develope what we learnt last time.
