The Enormous Turnip

Young girl learning to make pottery on the potter's wheel at Eastnor PotteryChildren’s potter’s wheel workshop sessions in the ½ term Holiday – 25th October 2017

As October half term rapidly approaches, we are delighted to announce details of our fun and creative children’s pottery workshop sessions planned for Wednesday 25th October.

The tale of the Enormous Turnip will provide the autumnal inspiration with participants each taking a turn on the potter’s wheel to make a trug for their root vegetable.

Instead of pulling handles, the children will ‘pull’ turnips from the earth! ;)

One at a time, they will sample the delights of the potter’s wheel, taking their little pot back to the table to be filled with hand-modelled Autumnal fare.

The children will be using terracotta clay and their fired creations will be ready for collection from the Pottery approx. one month later.

Sessions are designed for two age groups although younger and older siblings will never be turned away: 11.30am-1pm 4-8YRS and 2-3.30pm 9-12YRS. Places cost £15 per child with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Telephone or email booking essential. 01531 633886 admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

Meeting room & breakout fun

Pottery activity makes for a brilliant team building eventThe extra studio space afforded by our bakeoff style ‘Potting Tent’ marquee has come in very useful of late. We are able to run separate events and workshops co-currently, effectively doubling our capacity.

A few weeks ago a local housing association organisation booked a half day potter’s wheel teambuilding  session. When they made the initial enquiry, they asked if we had conferencing facilities at the Pottery. Our ‘can do’ approach prevailed and we invited team leaders to check out our facilities. They were so wowed with the atmosphere and creative environment, they booked the Potting Tent conferencing suite for x2 department’s team meetings on two separate days.

Both events went swimmingly with participants thoroughly enjoying our hospitality, lunch, refreshments and of course, the clay fueled fun on the potter’s wheel.

Here’s what they had to say about their Eastnor Pottery ‘corporate’ experience:

“Yes!!!!  From the moment I dropped in to speak to Sarah to make arrangements for our team away day, I knew I’d chosen the right place to hold our team event.  Having the use of the potting tent for our morning activities worked really well and everything was close to hand.  Food and refreshments were all first class.  Cannot fault anything.

Regarding the pot throwing experience, none of us had thrown a pot before, and after Jon’s careful and detailed instruction, we all managed to get something resembling a pot!   All of my team thought the day was fantastic and I know many of us went away and have recommended you to friends and family.

Great fun making our selfies too!

Friendly, warm and welcoming to everyone.  Informative, encouraging, helpful and made it fun!  You made us all feel relaxed and at ease.  Thank you” Nikki
