Upcycled art and clay figures

ledbury assemblage artist alans creations and clay figuresAlan is a talented local artist and professional tinkerer who constructs his quirky art objects from salvaged materials and found objects. Every so often, he’ll book into the Pottery to create some clay figures to incorporate into his upcycled art.

We love his enthusiasm and creative flair and this little steam engine demonstrates oodles of both. Wouldn’t want to mess with the drivers though!

Free Wheeling success

Visito at free potter's wheel event makes a pot under the guidence of potter Ethan from Eastnor Pottery young participant at Free Wheeling potters wheel event at Eastnor PotteryWe had such a lovely couple of days working with participants who took advantage of our FREE potter’s wheel event ‘Free Wheeling’ 16 & 17 Dec 2017.

Last year, around this time we took part in a national #GetCreative campaign called Hey Clay! – A Crafts Council and BBC initiative designed to get the general public making pottery. Artists and arts organisations all over the country were encouraged to open their doors and offer complimentary clay sessions to individuals and families.

Although Hey Clay wasn’t repeated this year, we were so inspired by the event, it prompted us to offer something similar in 2016.

Our customers will be pleased to know, ‘Free Wheeling’ looks like it’s going to become a regular fixture in our workshop calendar. It’s a win win event – visitors get to make a pot on the potter’s wheel for free and we get to tell them about all the fantastic things we do here in Eastnor and in the wider community.

Hey Clay is scheduled for a welcomed return 7-9 April 2017 – can’t wait!

Busy Busy Bees

Busy bees day nursery visit Eastnor Pottery for teambuilding event

We had great fun working with this group of nursery managers from Busy Bees Childcare. The team get together on a regular basis and at Christmas, they schedule an extra special activity to mark the festive season. This year they chose to make pots at Eastnor Pottery on no less than nine potter’s wheels we provided for them.

The team were in great spirits and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of wrestling the spinning mud. I think we only had to use the naughty corner once! ;)

The ceramic results of their labour will be fired, glazed and returned  – serving as a permanent reminder of their creative and fun 2016 Christmas party.
