Hot potters

learn to make pottery at eastnor pottery beginers guide to making pottery on the pottery wheel at eastnor potteryTraditionally, June is a quiet month for our potter’s wheel weekends and one day workshops as the great British public’s attention is drawn towards the garden and other outside pursuits. Normally, we see a lull in the number of ‘would be potters’ and adjust the frequency of workshops accordingly. Not so this year! June has been as busy as any other month with hoards of participants beating a trail to our door.

We provide a complimentary lunch and participants have really enjoyed picnicking on the Pottery lawn in the Summer sunshine.

Here’s photo evidence of the potting public’s unwavering desire to make pottery in flaming June.

Meadows books & damson trees

gruffalo tile panel created by pupils at meadows first school in bromsgroveHere at Eastnor Pottery, process is king! It’s all about the journey and we greatly value and enjoy observing how our customers and workshop participants engage with the clay and their relationship with environment and individuals around them. That said, we oversee some pretty inspiring and sophisticated end products too!

Check out these ‘book’ tile panels inspired by children’s literature we co-created with Meadows first School in Bromsgrove. We spent x2 industrious days working with the entire school, each child producing a single tile. The tiles have been assembled onto boards and will adorn the front of the school for community and visitors alike to admire when they visit the school.

This project was initiated to celebrate the schools 50th birthday and the resulting ceramic masterpiece made by the children will hang in the reception hall.

Meeting room & breakout fun

Pottery activity makes for a brilliant team building eventThe extra studio space afforded by our bakeoff style ‘Potting Tent’ marquee has come in very useful of late. We are able to run separate events and workshops co-currently, effectively doubling our capacity.

A few weeks ago a local housing association organisation booked a half day potter’s wheel teambuilding  session. When they made the initial enquiry, they asked if we had conferencing facilities at the Pottery. Our ‘can do’ approach prevailed and we invited team leaders to check out our facilities. They were so wowed with the atmosphere and creative environment, they booked the Potting Tent conferencing suite for x2 department’s team meetings on two separate days.

Both events went swimmingly with participants thoroughly enjoying our hospitality, lunch, refreshments and of course, the clay fueled fun on the potter’s wheel.

Here’s what they had to say about their Eastnor Pottery ‘corporate’ experience:

“Yes!!!!  From the moment I dropped in to speak to Sarah to make arrangements for our team away day, I knew I’d chosen the right place to hold our team event.  Having the use of the potting tent for our morning activities worked really well and everything was close to hand.  Food and refreshments were all first class.  Cannot fault anything.

Regarding the pot throwing experience, none of us had thrown a pot before, and after Jon’s careful and detailed instruction, we all managed to get something resembling a pot!   All of my team thought the day was fantastic and I know many of us went away and have recommended you to friends and family.

Great fun making our selfies too!

Friendly, warm and welcoming to everyone.  Informative, encouraging, helpful and made it fun!  You made us all feel relaxed and at ease.  Thank you” Nikki
