Caroline’s clay babies

Clay Play WorkshopA few months ago I had the pleasure of working with Caroline and her son on the potter’s wheel at a drop-in event at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford. They enjoyed the experience so much that Caroline organised her friends and booked a private clay play session at Eastnor Pottery.

The young potter’s aged 10-15 months enjoyed the potter’s wheel, squidged soft clay between their fingers and made a few hand & foot prints as well!

Children’s pottery in 1/2 term – 6 & 7 June 2012

1/2 term creative fun at eastnor pottery and the flying potter herefordshireIn recognition of her majesty the queen’s diamond jubilee,  we are proud to release details of our forthcoming children’s pottery workshop sessions in the ½ term holiday.

‘Convertible’ is the all-encompassing theme and young participants will get to model a grand, open-top carriage with HRH Elizabeth  perched inside…..or for those weary of the diamond celebrations, a sports car with the roof down or even a vintage vehicle with a be-goggled racer at the wheel!

Part of the making process will include a go on the potter’s wheel, which is always a firm favourite with visitors to the Pottery.

The 1.5 hr workshop sessions are designed for two age groups, 4-8yrs on Wednesday and 9-12yrs on Thursday (although younger and older siblings will never be turned away.) The fun starts at 11.30am & 2pm on Wed and 11.30am on Thursday and the cost is £15 per child with a 10% discount for x3 or more places booked. Places can only be reserved by telephoning 01531 633886 or email: admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

Once the Children’s creations have been given a stunning, terracotta firing, they will be ready for collection from the Pottery three weeks later.

Hen party at Eastnor Pottery

Afroze's Hen PartyI had a very enjoyable afternoon working with a pottery hen party group here at Eastnor Pottery on Sunday.

The young women certainly weren’t short of imaginative ideas and there was plenty of creative chatter as they discussed what to make. After debating the merits of collaborative plates, tiles, mugs etc the group settled for a large collaborative jug, covered in commemorative detail. They also made a multi coloured set of coasters for the bride to be’s new marital home in Canada.

The 1.5 hr session flew by and it was soon time to gather on the sunny Pottery lawn for photos and to admire their handy work. Fantastic work ladies! You can view the photos from the workshop on our Facebook page.

New for the Summer season 2012 – Drop-in workshops at Eastnor Pottery!

Over the May Bank holiday we thought we’d try and encourage visitors to Eastnor into the Pottery by offering a range of clay activities without the need to book in advance.

The pilot was extremely encouraging and as a result, starting from the 19th May, we are going to open our doors on selected weekends throughout the Summer, inviting passers by and families to drop-in and try a bit of pottery.

We’ll have a menu of exciting projects availible between the hours of 11am & 4pm suitable for adults and children and ranging in price from £5-£20. Please contact the Pottery for available dates 01531 633886 or admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk
