Just so fantastic

clay babies at just so festival 2012 supplied by eastnor pottery and the flying potterA couple of years ago I picked up a beautifully designed flyer for a new family festival called ‘Just So’. The illustration was exquisite and I needed to know more.

Having just returned from working the festival (now in it’s third year) I’m please to report Just So certainly lived up, neh exceeded the promise and quality of that original flyer.

Our contribution, Clay babies and BIG pottery went down very well indeed, with families lapping up the opportunity to get right grubby with the clay and mud sculpture.

Well done Sarah & Rowen you have certainly created a magical, imaginative and creative world for little people and their grown-ups. Roll on just so 2013.

Final day at the Castle

eyeball pizza made for the twits banquet at eastnor castle herefordshireWe rounded off the flying potter pottery week at Eastnor Castle by making putrid pizza and rusty ol’ cutlery. Thankyou to all the participants who contributed their clay offerings to the collaborative piece.

Once fired and glazed we’ll display the works in the dry cleaners window in Ledbury high street. Probably in the Autumn? Watch this space!

Meanwhile here’s the photo’s I took from yesterday.

Raechel’s pottery hen do.

raechel celebrates her hen party with her hens at eastnor pottery and the flying potter in herefordshireRaechel & her hen party produced some fantastic clay creations on Tuesday evening here at Eastnor Pottery. The ladies opted for our coil pot project and made mugs, pots and lanterns which they also painted on the night with coloured slip. Very detailed and excellently painted girls!

We’ve posted a few more pics from the evening on our facebook page

Smelly sardines

this smelly sardine formed part of a huge pottery foul feast in honour of roald dahls the twits at eastnor castle herefordshireDespite the torrential downpours and 1/2 the workshop tables were underwater, we pressed on with making the collaborative feast for the Twits.

Aptly, participants turned their creative skill to modelling a plate full of smelly sardines and foul fish. We also produced a plate of noses & chips!

Check out the rather soggy pics from yesterday.

Revolting cakes

horrible looking roald dahl's the twits inspired pottery cakes produced at eastnor castle herefordshireI think most people looked at the weather forcast for today and thought they’d make the most of the sunshine yesterday cos it was a really busy Tuesday at Eastnor Castle.

We aimed to produce a plate of disgusting cakes and ended up with a sheer mountain of confectionary. There were spiders, slugs and maggots emerging from rancid muffins and dodgy looking buns.

Participants have really warmed to the foul food theme inspired by Roald Dahl’s the twits and have made some incredibly horrible looking clay things.

We are well on track to produce a fantastic feast for Mr & Mrs Twit. We’ll be in the Castle 11am – 4.30pm. Hope to see you there!
