On your marks, get set……

moonbeams early years creativity project at the mac in birminghamLove this photo of a line of young artists, clay creations in hand and ready to march to the shelves to display their artwork.

Moonbeams 3 is a creative project in Birmingham valuing very young children’s art. I’ve been working with Nursery groups from all over the city at MAC, Cannon Hill Park. The children have been placing their potter’s wheel inspired creations, freshly made onto specially designed shelves as part of the moonbeams3 exhibition

Kate Green has been documenting the project – check out this brilliant shot of hands on the wheel taken at one of the sessions.

Peter Wynne Wilson hasalso been working with the young people at MAC, recording their stories from his creative workshops. View the wonderful results by looking here.

Sad farmer at Badsey!

pottery arts project at badsey first school worcestershire led by jon the potter from eastnor herefordshireI’ve been working in partnership with Badsey Society at Badsey First School in Worcestershire. We’ve made three fabulous wall panels in the shape of an apple, plum & pear tree.

This is a plum made by a yr2 pupil and decorated in the style of a “sad farmer” – you can just about make out the tears. Why is the farmer sad? “because his horse has died” enough to bring a tear to any eye I’m sure you’ll agree!

Busy potters

made by a yr5 pupil at Brampton & Abbotts primary school in herefordshireThe summer term is always a busy one for us.

Somedays Eastnor Pottery is represented in no less than three schools or early years settings all on the same day. Last week Gemma worked with Concern International in a couple of Herefordshire Schools whilst Sarah headed over to Pershore to work with Blossom Vale Children’s Centre.

I headed north into Birmingham to work with Brearley & Teviot Nursery School and with Moonbeams 3 project at the Midlands Arts Centre.

The Gruffalo

clay gruffalow made by a talented member of staff at brearley & teviot nursery school birminghamAn amazing clay gruffalo skillfully made by administator extroardinaire Marie from the fab Brearley & Teviot Nursery School in Birmingham.

It took Marie just 15mins during her break to create this masterpiece during a mad busy open day at the Children’s Centre.

I was stationed on the playground throwing pots with parents and children.
