Eastnor Pottery and The Flying Potter - Pottery Experiences for families, groups and individuals
Check out this fantastic sculpture made by approx. 25 adults with learning difficulties on a ‘MY QUEEN & MY COUNTRY’ workshop in Kidderminster.
I’d been asked to come up with a theme that celebrated both the diamond jubilee and the Olympic games. The sculpture will now go on display at at Bewdley Museum for the rest of the Summer.
It’s been a week dominated by working with the under 5’s. As well as the fab moonbeams3 project at MAC, I also found myself at the totally creative hub of early years joy that is Washwood Heath Nursery School.
As it was the last time this academic year I’d be working with the children we decided to offer the potter’s wheel as a free flow activity, outside on the playground.
Moonbeams (how to catch a moonbeam and pin it down) is an ongoing arts project celebrating early years creativity in Birmingham. The project has been up and running for near on 11 years and is currently in it’s third phase – moonbeams3.
It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to have spent the last couple of days working with nurseries and early years groups at MAC at Cannon Hill Park as part of moombeams3.
The young artists have been working on the potter’s wheel, making a fantastic range of shapes and forms – often manipulated, added to or squashed to achieve an effect.
And this is the best bit – once the children have finished their creations they get to carry (v-carefully)their clay sculptures to a specially designed set of shelves in the Allotment gallery space at the MAC publicly on show for the rest of the summer.
Moonbeams3 is on show at MAC till the 9th September 2012.
We facilitated a unique and creative break-out session for a corporate group at Coombe Abbey Hotel nr Coventry.
Black Clover booked the Flying Potter on behalf of a well known financial services company for 1.5hr potter’s wheel, pre-dinner activity.
We kicked off the session with an entertaining potter’s wheel demonstration – the pot becoming encrusted with modelled details made by each participant.
Everybody had a go on one of three potter’s wheels supplyed for the groups entertainment.
Once the pots have been dried, fired and glazed they’ll be winging their way back to company HQ.
