The current theme across the board is ‘How we express ourselves.’ This week we all made portraits in clay. Just love the detail & consideration one of the young lads put into this composition of his whole family.

Hesters’ collaborative animals
I spent a busy and productive couple of days working with children and staff at Hesters Way Primary School in Cheltenham. This has been my second project with the school this year and this time each year group made a collaborative terracotta animal. We ended up with an owl, elephant, caterpiller, butterfly, fish, tortoise and dragon. All the children’s creations are drying nicely and you can take a peep at the unfired work by visiting the photo album we’ve created.
Potter’s wheel workshop

A couple of snaps from the one day potter’s wheel workshop held at Eastnor Pottery on Sunday.
The next event is a weekend potter’s wheel course on the 26 & 27 May 2012. Participants get to colour and finish the vessels they produce on day one.
Further details can be found on our potter’s wheel workshop page.
The very hungry caterpillar finished artworks
Earlier in the year I spent seven wonderful days working with different groups at the creative St Thomas Children’s Centre in Birmingham.
We made a whole variety of ceramic panels and free standing sculpture based upon the excellent children’s book ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. As well as producing some stunning, ceramic artwork, the participants developed their mark making, literacy and communication skills whilst having a creative and fun time.
The finished items are on our facebook page for all to admire.
Liz’s pottery hen party
Another Saturday, another pottery hen party! (and some people have to work for a living!!)
I have to admit these occasions are just as enjoyable for us as they are for the lovely people that participate. Liz (bride to be) had done some clay work at an evening class a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When we popped up on google as a creative hen party idea in Herefordshire, she was keen to book a session.
The girls spent a lovely afternoon making pots on the potter’s wheel and producing some cracking coil pot creations. Liz’s clay dog was particularly impressive.
Please take a look at the photo album we’ve created on our facebook page.
