Hen party at Eastnor Pottery

Afroze's Hen PartyI had a very enjoyable afternoon working with a pottery hen party group here at Eastnor Pottery on Sunday.

The young women certainly weren’t short of imaginative ideas and there was plenty of creative chatter as they discussed what to make. After debating the merits of collaborative plates, tiles, mugs etc the group settled for a large collaborative jug, covered in commemorative detail. They also made a multi coloured set of coasters for the bride to be’s new marital home in Canada.

The 1.5 hr session flew by and it was soon time to gather on the sunny Pottery lawn for photos and to admire their handy work. Fantastic work ladies! You can view the photos from the workshop on our Facebook page.

New for the Summer season 2012 – Drop-in workshops at Eastnor Pottery! 

Over the May Bank holiday we thought we’d try and encourage visitors to Eastnor into the Pottery by offering a range of clay activities without the need to book in advance.

The pilot was extremely encouraging and as a result, starting from the 19th May, we are going to open our doors on selected weekends throughout the Summer, inviting passers by and families to drop-in and try a bit of pottery.

We’ll have a menu of exciting projects availible between the hours of 11am & 4pm suitable for adults and children and ranging in price from £5-£20. Please contact the Pottery for available dates 01531 633886 or admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

Gotherington Tree

Just need to stick the leaves down on to the cut & painted boards and it will be complete.

Alderman Knight pottery session

a clay owl made by a student from alderman knight special school in tewkesbury. she was part of a group working with jon the potter at eastnor pottery and the flying potterThe young people from the Alderman Knight Special School in Tewkesbury visited Eastnor Pottery in the week. The children had a regular horse riding session in the morning and then called by the Pottery for a clay workshop in the afternoon. A rare break in the wet weather allowed the group to picnic on our lawn in glorious sunshine.

The students were treated to a coil-pot demo before getting stuck into the technique themselves. They made some wonderful objects including an elephant, mug and my favourite, this owl.

Pottery at headteachers conference

headteacher julie displays her clay masterpiece at headteachers conference in herefordshireSpent a short but ultra productive evening in the bar at The Leadership Trust near Ross on Wye. Myself and a few other creative practitioners were there to offer a little light entertainment for a group of Herefordshire head teachers, before they sat down to dinner. Julie, head at Ledbury Primary School and pictured above was the first brave soul to throw a pot on the potter’s wheel. She set the bar very high indeed with everybody else achieving an equally amazing standard of success.

Also on the bill ‘The Fetch Theatre Company’with an assortment of totally awesome puppets created by creative director Purvin. Check out these examples of his work.
