Alice’s pottery birthday party

pottery birthday party at eastnor pottery herefordshireAlice turned six earlier this week and to celebrate her coming of age Mum and Dad booked a pottery birthday party here at Eastnor Pottery.

She chose our ‘colourful critters’ theme as a starting point, but it soon became obvious the creative party goers had other ideas! Multi-coloured tea-pots, trays and butterflys were beautifuly modelled and painted.

The children’s fabulous work will be glazed, fired and ready for collection in a few weeks time. In the meantime please take a look at the photo album we created or check out our dedicated birthday party web page to see how you go about booking your special day at Eastnor Pottery.

Ruby Wedding Workshop

ruby wedding pottery workshop celebration at eastnor pottery herefordshireWe do our fair share of pottery hen parties here at Eastnor Pottery, but I think this is the first time we’ve hosted a Ruby Wedding celebration.

John and Hilary, who’s anniversary it was, organised a weekend get together in Herefordshire with some of their friends – two couples of which were also celebrating 40 years of marriage in 2011!

The group hailed from Shropshire and hired a cottage near Bromyard as a base from which to launch their activity trips.

They spent three hours at the Pottery sampling the potter’s wheel and making coil pots. An amicable and competitive bunch, they split up into girls & boys teams – the men excelled at the hand building whilst the women outplayed the lads on the wheels!

To view photos taken on the day check out our Facebook album.

Clay babies at St Thomas

pottery sessions for new parents and their children at st thomas childrens centre led by jon the potter from eastnor potteryPerhaps the youngest pottery participants I have the pleasure of working with are from the New Parents group that meet at St Thomas Children’s Centre in Birmingham.

Children as young as 3 months get their very first potter’s wheel experience, often displaying great levels of concentration and enjoyment.

The parents really value the sessions and take full advantage of the opportunity to make clay impressions of their children’s hands and feet….and get the chance to throw the odd pot on the wheel themselves!

Made in Eastnor

Once again, we provided the clay and fired all 1700 medals for this years Mudrunner event here on the Eastnor Castle Estate.

The event has been going from strength to strength with record numbers hauling themselves around the grueling (and very muddy) landrover experience test track.

This year 200 younger mud runners were able to take part in a Junior event.
