Washwood Heath Nursery School

pottery sessions for parents at washwood heath nursery school led by jon the potter from eastnor potteryI’ve been lucky enough to work with the staff, parents and children at Washwood Heath Nursery School again.

Each year the Nursery allows new parents to participate in a range of craft activities whilst their young children settle into the classrooms. This way the mums & dads have something to take their mind off the transition whilst being on hand if their child becomes too upset.

This is the second year ‘ve been involved in this simple yet very effective activity. It works a treat with parents commenting on the benefits to well being at what can be a trying time.

The quality of creative response from the parents was once again exceptional and participants produced some beautiful and decorative results. Some had the opportunity to try their hand at the potter’s wheel, describing their experience as a ‘dream come true’!

After 1/2 term I’ll be in the classroom working with the children, identifying their interests and joining in their journey.

Pottery plates at Wyche Primary School

pottery plates made from clay at a workshop led by jon the potter from eastnor potteryYr 1 & 2 at Wyche Primary School are creating treasure boxes. The class teacher contacted me to see if I’d come into school and show the children each how to make a plate to go in their boxes.

We used a simple ‘pie dish’ technique by flattening lumps of clay into large slabs and placing them into moulds.

The plate makers then added animal inspired decoration before painting their creations with coloured slip.

The class had worked with an illustrator earlier in the week, the skills they’d attained evident in the wonderful additions and drawings.

Teambuilding at Drayton Manor

pottery teambuilding event led by the flying potterGemma and myself worked with Blackclover Events to deliver a two hour teambuilding session for a corporate client. We worked with no less than 105 participants, all at the same time!

By the end of the evening the group had produced an army of clay super heros. Check out Wonder Woman and Bat Girl!

As well as the super hero clay fun, some of the group were able to sample the delights of making a pot on one of four potter’s wheels we’d installed for the evening.
