March hens in a spin

Hen making a pot on the potter's wheel at eastnor pottery and the flying potterThe unseasonably good weather meant we were able to host our first pottery hen party of 2017 in our fabulous Potting Tent marquee on the Pottery garden lawn.

The girls had so much fun taking turns on three potter’s wheels making a ‘dazzling’ array of jugs, pots and plates. We’ll now fire and glaze the creative output in good time for the wedding in June.

If you’ve got an event or family celebration coming up, and quite like the look of The Potting Tent, then give us a call or drop us a line Tel 01531 633886 admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk

The hens of Hardwick

Mobile pottery hen party visits Hardwick House nr TewkesburyGreat to be back at Hardwick House facilitating more hen party pottery creativity.

Hardwick House is a half hour drive from Eastnor Pottery and is the perfect country retreat for large groups of girls looking for a Gloucestershire base. (The grand steps leading up to the front door always make for a good group photo too)

This particular bunch made and painted coil pots as well as each taking a turn on the potter’s wheel.

The fruits of their creative labour will be fired, glazed and returned to the girls in time for the bride’s big day.

Meadows First for book tile panels!

gruffalo tile panel made by meadows first school and jon the potter from eastnor pottery and the flying potterWe are currently in the midst of a HUGE tile panel project with Meadows First School in Bromsgrove. We are working with the whole school to produce no less than six separate panels, each one made by a different year group, each one depicting a different children’s book character:

Nursery= Elmer the patchwork elephant

Reception = The Gruffalo

Year 1 = The Tiger from The tiger who came to Tea

Year 2 = Winnie the Witch

Year 3 = The BFG

Year 4 = George from George’s Marvellous Medicine – another Roald Dahl Book

We’ve done two days of workshops in school, brilliantly assisted  by x4 YR8 students from neighboring Parkside Middle School (they really were very helpful indeed!)

All the tiles have been created and are currently drying out ready for their bisque and glaze firing. Once they have emerged from the kiln we’ll mount them onto boards and get them photographed and up on the blog.

Half term visitors

Ethan from eastnro Pottery demonstrates handles to birthday group It wasn’t just the children who had a fab time at the Pottery over February half term. We saw an increasing number of grown-ups and couples join us for a spot of clay creativity.

Adults of all ages sampled the delights of the potter’s wheel, made coil pots and modelled clay sculpture using the pinch-pot technique. We helped customers celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions by enabling them to create pottery keepsakes.

After the half term holiday, we published a photo album of all the lovely participants who dropped by the Pottery.

If you fancied booking onto one of our taster sessions for individuals and small groups, take a look at the projects and prices below then drop us an email: admin@eastnorpottery.co.uk to book a session.
